More than Materialism

Attended a memorial service for a 19-month-old boy today who was tragically killed when his father accidentally drove over him early Saturday morning.

I can honestly say that it was the most moving funeral that I have attended. Not only was there great sorrow at the child’s passing, but there was also a great joy and confidence in the Lord and his goodness being worked out through this awful event. Why did little Caleb die after only 19 months? Nobody knows, but this we know – God is in control, even as the child died, and He is good! He is working all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

The gospel was adorned beautifully by the parents, their blood family and their church family in how they grieved and glorified God for the life he had given and taken away.

What a blessing to my own soul to see the real gospel in action! The world is being offered a “name-it-and-claim-it”, watered down lie in the name of Christianity. It is no great wonder that peopleĀ  hold no regard for the work of Jesus on the cross when hypocrites preach a “health, wealth and prosperity gospel”

This clip was played at the service. And:

THIS IS THE GOSPEL THAT ENABLES THESE GRIEVING BELIEVERS TO HAVE JOY IN THE MIDST OF SEARING LOSS
